Woman arrested following attempted robbery in Huyton

Merseyside Police has arrested a woman following a report of an attempted robbery at the home of an elderly woman in Huyton on Sunday11 February.

Officers were called to Astley Road at around 1.50pm to a report a woman had knocked on the door of an 87-year-old woman before pushing past her and locking the door.

The offender threatened the victim and demanded money, before making an untidy search of rooms upstairs.

The victim, who was not hurt during the incident, then let herself out of the house and went to a neighbour's home. The offender left the scene on foot a short time later.

An investigation was launched with house-to-house and CCTV enquiries carried out in the local area.

A 38-year-old woman, of no fixed address, attended a police station and has been arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery. She remains at the police station where she is being interviewed.
