Alex excels at championships

Huyton swimmer Alex Dunk (21) recently represented Prescot Swimming Club with pride at the British Swimming Championships, the premier swim meet in the UK.

Held in the Commonwealth Games pool in Glasgow, Alex raced against the country’s best and out-performed his qualification times.

Alex raced in four events, the 200m freestyle, 400m freestyle, 200m individual medley and 400m individual medley, achieving an outstanding four lifetime best times and making the final of the 400m IM.

The British Swimming Championships are the toughest competition to enter and this year they also served as qualification for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

The event attracted lots of online interest and the live streaming was watched by his team mates back in Prescot SC and from other clubs who also train in the Prescot and St Helens Performance Squad.

Alex received tons of encouraging tweets, texts and Instagrams in support of his performances, and he was extremely grateful for all the support. Alex thanked his coach, Helen Billington, for helping him achieve these results.

Prescot SC also sent their congratulations to Alex for his excellent swims throughout the week and for inspiring the swimmers in Prescot SC and across the North West.
