The sky is the limit at FTW Training

FTW Training was established in 2013 as a predominantly commercial Forklift Training (FLT) provider accredited with RTITB. From there the company has moved from strength to strength when the new management team came on board in 2018.

FTW then started working with various partners who deliver funded Warehouse and storage qualifications and their part was obviously the free Forklift licence on completion.

From humble beginnings of four office staff and two instructors they have grown at a rate of nots and now employ eight office staff and 11 RTITB instructors/associates.

They are an eclectic mix of trainers who have years of Industry experience and deliver quality forklift training, two of which have graduated from the funded warehouse and FLT course and are now delivering the very same course they were a student on! The managing director also completed the same course 11 years ago.

Their office team bring varied work and life experience which they feel is the reason why they have had such great success over the recent years.

Nikki McCarthy-Obey, operations director at FTW, said: “Don’t think it was plain sailing though! We have managed to keep this forklift family together through a global pandemic which certainly caused some sleepless nights.

“What did become apparent is that the forklift and logistics industry is one of the most secure industries to work in due to the online shopping culture.  That said forklift drivers are not just limited to working within a warehouse, there are garden centres, builders merchants, events companies the list goes on.”

From January 2022 until present 41% of their learners have moved into employment.
Nikki, said: “What do we do? On completion of the 2/3 week  funded warehouse and storage course, FTW provide free transport from the training location Liverpool, Lancashire, Warrington and Manchester and facilitate the five day training course, the licence is worth £600 and you will receive this for free if you are eligible.

“Our instructors are genuinely some of the nicest people I know and will go the extra mile to ensure a friendly, supportive and professional environment, feel free to have a look at  our google reviews from our learners!

“We also have strong links with employers and we regularly send vacancies to our past learners in the relevant areas where they live.

“We have recently secured two prison contracts and deliver the training to candidates pre release into the community which is proving to be very successful.
“In the last 12 months we qualified to become a train the trainer centre which means if you have industry experience, we can train candidates to be a qualified RTITB accredited Instructor.

“Why do we do it? As before mentioned our team have a passion and drive to support people who have found themselves out of work, need a change and want to work in an industry where they are guaranteed a steady income. We understand that sometimes all it takes is for someone to believe in you and the sky is the limit.”
